Electric Gates Supplied and expertly installed by Charnwood Gates

Materials

Whether you are looking for large metal gates to protect your business, or a pair of ornate, yet strong, wooden gates for your home, we can help in every step of the process. We work closely with our manufacturers to ensure that your gates are created using the highest quality materials.

Softwood Gates

Generally more affordable than metal and hardwood, softwood gates are a sturdy and stylish addition to your property.

Softwood will last up to 8 years with proper maintenance and care. We provide a wide range of design options to suit your needs, and are open to discuss any ideas you may have. Finishes for wooden gates include:

  • Pressure treatment – a chemical treatment used to preserve wood and protect it against rot.
  • Exterior wood oil – a penetrative oil that dries as a hard seal to protect the timber against the elements and ensures longevity.

Unlike metal, wooden gates do require at least annual maintenance, such as sanding and re-painting. For more information regarding softwood gates please contact us.

Metal Gates

At the higher end of the pricing scale, metal gates will ensure security for your home.

They are available in a range of designs and finishes which we will be happy to discuss with you. The finishes include:

  • Galvanisation – to prevent iron and steel from rusting and corrosion using a coat of molten zinc, sprayed over the gate for a seamless finish.
  • Paint – a standard paint available in a multitude of colours.
  • Powder Coating – a protective paint available in a variety of colours that adds a further layer of protection against corrosion.

One of the key benefits of using professionally finished metal for your gates is that it requires little to no maintenance once installed. Feel free to contact us if you wish to discuss the metal gate options further.

Hardwood Gates

If you invest in hardwood gates, you would be investing in up to 35 years of use.

Hardwood is generally more aesthetically pleasing than softwood due to its smoother grain and less knotty appearance. Finishes for wooden gates include:

  • Pressure treatment – a chemical treatment used to preserve wood and protect it against rot.
  • Exterior wood oil – a penetrative oil that dries as a hard seal to protect the timber against the elements and ensures longevity.

While much more durable than softwood, we do still recommend regular maintenance of hardwood gates to ensure maximum longevity. For more information regarding hardwood gates please contact us.

Automation Systems

We install automation systems on new and existing gates.

Both wooden and metal gates can be automated. Over the years we have worked with all types of gates and most electric gate brands, giving you full confidence in our team’s ability to install whatever system you choose. All gates on new installations are made to measure once the first fix has been completed, enabling the best quality results and a perfect fit.

Please contact us for further information on gate automation systems.

Sliding Gates

Sliding gate systems offer a solution to properties where the space available is limited.

They are also suitable for uneven ground, such as on sloped driveways. Because of the increased resistance to force, sliding gates provide the most protection and security.

Swing Gates

A swing automation is a simpler system, making it the more affordable option.

Because of this, it is a popular choice in the UK. Swing gates generally require more space than sliding gates and need flat ground to work properly. You can choose whether the gates swing inwards or outwards, depending on what is most practical for your property.

Contact us to discuss your requirements.

If you have a query, are looking for a quote, or just want a general discussion about our services, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help.

There are two options available, either of which can be used for both swing and sliding gates:

Above Ground System

The more cost-effective option of the two, above ground systems require less time and equipment, and are fully visible.

Below Ground System

If you are looking for a seamless finish to your gates, the below ground system may be the best option. The larger amount of work required compared to an above ground system does increase the cost, but with this comes an increased aesthetic quality to your property.
